Schöne Dörfer 🍇 im Bergland Deutschlands: Ein Blick ins ländliche Leben 🏔️

Gleisweiler (Palatinate Glääswoiler) is a municipality in the Südliche Weinstraße district in Rhineland-Palatinate. It belongs to the Verbandsgemeinde of Edenkoben, within which it is the fifth-smallest local community in terms of population. Gleisweiler is a state-recognized resort. The place was first mentioned in documents in 1006 under the name “Glizenwilere”. King Henry II donated the place, along with Hochstadt and Wollmesheim, to the Speyer Cathedral Monastery. In 1414, Knight Wolfgang, Judge of Knittelsheim, sold his goods in Gleisweiler to Count Palatine Ludwig III, and Electoral Palatinate also had supremacy and serfs in the town. In 1587 the Speyer cathedral monastery sold its share of the rights over Gleisweiler to Johann Kasimir von Pfalz-Simmern, who was administrator of Electoral Palatinate at the time. The place came to the court of the Siebeldinger Tal, which belonged to the Electoral Palatinate Oberamt Germersheim.[4] After 1792, French revolutionary troops occupied the region and annexed it after the Peace of Campo Formio (1797). From 1798 to 1814 the village belonged to the French department of Donnersberg, was assigned to the canton of Edenkoben and was the seat of its own mairie, which also included the neighboring Frankweiler. In 1815 the community had a total of 613 residents. Due to the agreements reached at the Congress of Vienna that same year and an exchange agreement with Austria, the region became part of the Kingdom of Bavaria in 1816. From 1818, the community of Gleisweiler was part of the Landau Landcommissariat in the Bavarian Rhine District; The Landau district office subsequently emerged from the former. From 1939 the place was part of the Landau district in the Palatinate. After the Second World War, the community within the French occupation zone became part of the then newly formed state of Rhineland-Palatinate. As part of the first administrative reform in Rhineland-Palatinate, Gleisweiler moved to the newly created Landau-Bad Bergzabern district on June 7, 1969, which was renamed the Südliche Weinstraße district in 1978. In 1972 the community was assigned to the newly formed Edenkoben municipality. 🌤Temperature: 2°C - 3°C 🎥Recording date of this video: 01/18/2025 📍Location: Palatinate, Gleisweiler Join us on this adventure and let yourself be enchanted by the beauty and charm of a traditional German wine village.
