Maple Burl Disaster Turned GOLD | Flying Burl & Swirling Epoxy Save the Day

In this video, I start with a small 7 × 4 inch irregular maple burl and use a circle-cutting jig on the bandsaw to round it into shape. Everything was going smoothly—until the maple burl let go from the waste block and flew off the lathe. The burl had large natural voids, so instead of giving up, I repaired it using a gold-coloured epoxy with beautiful yellow swirling patterns. What began as a near disaster turned into one of a most striking piece. This project is a great reminder that woodturning doesn’t always go as planned, but creativity, patience, and the right tools can turn mistakes into something special.
