EP.01 | Giving a 20-Year-Old Yohji Archive a Second Life

Garment Breakdown EP.01 In this first episode, I take on the repair and remake of a Yohji Yamamoto POUR HOMME Spring/Summer 2008 archive piece. When I first received it, one of the epaulettes was missing and the garment had already suffered noticeable damage. Using the remaining epaulette as a reference, I reconstructed the missing one while intentionally choosing a completely new fabric with a burnt, distressed texture instead of replicating the original. Because the fabric was extremely thin, highly heat-sensitive, and prone to fraying, I rebuilt the epaulette three to four times before achieving the result I was looking for. To reinforce the buttonholes, I also added two layers of interfacing beneath the fabric.
