EP.02 | Yohji Yamamoto POURHOMME 09AW: Cerberus at the Pajama Party

In this episode, I’m sharing a Cerberus coat from Yohji Yamamoto POUR HOMME Fall/Winter 2009, a standout piece from the so-called “Beast Era.” The collection mixed pajamas, robes, slippers, and loose shorts with formal tailoring and long coats, creating a striking contrast between the private and the public. I discuss the mythology behind Cerberus, the discharge-printed artwork by textile designer Chikami Hayashi, and the differences between the runway version and my later black-and-red release. I also take a closer look at its elongated silhouette, robe-style back belt, wool-rayon blend fabric, cupro lining, and contrasting body and sleeve prints. Quiet on the outside and vivid on the inside, it may be the ultimate coat for keeping your wild side hidden.
