REMINISCENCE - Veteran Volunteers Recall 50 Years of Llangollen Railway - Episode 1
At Llangollen, we take pride in the efforts of the legendary volunteers that make our Railway happen. In the 50 Years since Llangollen Station was first reopened, our Volunteers have faced every hardship and danger imaginable. In this first of a new series, we spoke to Gordon Francis, who himself cut the lock off the front gate in 1975 and laid some of the very first track at the preserved station. Accompanied by Trust President Gordon Heddon, himself a long-serving volunteer, Gordon F. tells us about some of the very early struggles faced by the fledgeling railway, and reflects on a lifetime’s worth of dedication and passion for this unique endeavour.
