SEMARANG, KOMPAS.TV Several staple food prices in various regions have experienced changes in recent times. Price increases were recorded for several food commodities, such as chilies, onions, cooking oil, and rice, while several other commodities actually decreased. At Andi Tadda Market, Palopo City, South Sulawesi, the price of cayenne pepper was one of the commodities that experienced a significant increase. Furthermore, the price of shallots also rose from IDR 50,000 to IDR 55,000 per kilogram, while the price of tomatoes increased from IDR 15,000 to IDR 17,000 per kilogram. Traders stated that these price increases had been ongoing for the past few days. At the same market, subsidized MinyaKita brand cooking oil has also been reported to be in short supply for about a month. Traders reported having difficulty obtaining supplies because available stocks had run out. This shortage has also impacted the price increases of other cooking oil brands on the market. The State Logistics Agency (Bulog) stated that the MinyaKita supply quota received has decreased due to reduced supply from producers. Meanwhile, at Johar Market, Semarang, Central Java, the price of garlic has risen from IDR 30,000 to IDR 39,000 per kilogram. The price of non-subsidized cooking oil remains high at around Rp 23,000 per liter. However, the prices of red chili peppers and shallots have actually decreased compared to before. Price increases also occurred at East Amlapura Market, Karangasem, Bali. Rice prices have seen varying increases, ranging from Rp 500 to Rp 1,000 per kilogram, for both local, medium, and premium rice.
