JAKARTA, KOMPAS.TV - In the pretrial hearing, Roy Suryo's lawyers assessed the Metro Jaya Police's response as inconsistent in applying procedural law between the old and new Criminal Procedure Codes. Roy's attorney stated that in issuing the arrest warrant for Roy Suryo, the Metro Jaya Police used provisions contained in the new Criminal Procedure Code. However, in responding to Roy's request in this pretrial hearing, the Metro Jaya Police used provisions contained in the old Criminal Procedure Code. Therefore, Roy's attorneys asked the judge to declare Roy Suryo's arrest and detention warrant invalid. Previously, the Metro Jaya Police, as the respondent in this pretrial hearing, asked the judge to reject Roy Suryo's entire request. The Metro Jaya Police's legal team stated that the arrest and search of Roy Suryo's residence on June 19th was legally valid. The arrest and search of Roy Suryo was secured by a search warrant based on a ruling from the Chief Justice of the Tangerang District Court and a warrant from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police dated June 19, 2026. The police believe that Roy Suryo's allegation of procedural violations is unfounded. The Jakarta Metropolitan Police have requested that the judge dismiss Roy Suryo's entire lawsuit. Roy Suryo's pretrial hearing is currently underway at the South Jakarta District Court. The Jakarta Metropolitan Police have stated that Roy Suryo's arrest and detention were legally valid.
