Psalm 8 — The Greatness of God and the Dignity of Man Psalm 8 is a song of worship that exalts the majesty of God revealed in all creation. David contemplates the heavens, the moon, and the stars and recognizes that all the work of the Lord's hands proclaims His glory. Faced with such greatness, a question arises that echoes to this day: “What is man that you are mindful of him?” (Psalm 8:4). Despite human insignificance in the face of the universe, God demonstrates His love by granting man honor, dignity, and the responsibility to care for creation. The psalm also points to Christ, who perfectly fulfilled God's purpose for humanity and received all authority and glory. In this devotional, we will learn that true greatness is not in man, but in the God who created him, loves him, and calls him to live according to His purposes. As we contemplate the majesty of the Lord, we are led to humility, gratitude, and worship. "O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!" (Psalm 8:9).
