🚆 4K Cab ride on the legendary Gotthard mountain route (Göschenen - Zug | Cab Ride Switzerland)

Welcome to the mountains! Today we are in Göschenen, in the middle of the Swiss Alps and right at the entrance to the Gotthard mountain tunnel, once the longest tunnel in the world. However, we're not here for the tunnel, today we're driving down the legendary Gotthard mountain route! This cab ride takes you back in time, before base tunnels existed and when building a railway line was a huge undertaking with a lot of manual labor involved. Since adhesion railways cannot climb insanely steep gradients without the help of a cograil or a similar system, the route follows the slopes of the mountains and features a lot of curves and helical tunnels to make the descent (or ascent) possible. The fact that the many twists and curves make the routing longer is not a disadvantage at all: The views on the scenic mountain route are among the best you'll find in the world. And it doesn't stop being beautiful there! The further routing takes us along Lake Lucerne, with beautiful views of the lake that is nestled between the different mountains surrounding it. The final part of the video takes us along the equally beautiful eastern side of Lake Zug, where a freight train is seldom found.
