【アフリカゾウ 八木山動物公園】駆け足でランチにやって来るリリーと特別な足のケアを受けるベンの姿が可愛い！

Yagiyama Zoological Park welcomed late autumn, and it was cold on the day this video was filmed. Walking to the viewing area of Ben the African elephant's outdoor yard, I saw Lily spending time alone. This meant that Ben was indoors. Heading to the indoor viewing corridor, as expected… Ben was indeed inside by himself 😄 According to a regular visitor who came to see the African elephants the day before, Ben hadn’t returned indoors by the previous day’s closing time (4:00 PM). And on the following day (the day this video was filmed), when they came to the African elephant enclosure again, the zookeeper said, “Ben only came back to his room in the early morning.” The reason Ben was indoors on the day of filming was probably to let him rest after being outside for a long time during the cold night and likely to check on his health. As for why Ben didn’t come back indoors at the scheduled time the previous day… only Ben knows. However, the zookeepers probably waited and stayed close to Ben’s wishes, which allowed him to spend time in peace. In the morning, Ben spent time in his own room, then moved to Lily’s room for cleaning. After the cleaning, he needed to move back to his own room, but even then he was reluctant to move. Perhaps something was bothering him. Later, treatment began. This was the first time I saw Ben wearing shoes. They likely used foot covers to help the medication soak into his feet. Getting shoes on a big elephant like Ben seemed very difficult, but Ben looked adorable, almost as if he was getting a treat while wearing shoes… (I apologize to the zookeepers and veterinarians who were earnestly treating him, but I couldn’t help thinking it was cute 💦) The time he spent with the foot covers immersed was about 20 minutes. Meanwhile, Lily and Mary returned to their room for training, and the closing time approached. Ben’s treatment continued, but I couldn’t see the post-treatment feeding, so I don’t know what treatment was performed after the foot covers were removed. The zookeepers and veterinarians are doing their best for Ben’s recovery. Watching them, it’s impossible not to sincerely hope for Ben’s health to improve.
