Gateshead A167 Flyover Demolition Day 58 Hugh progress & five bridges closure update.

The Gateshead A167 flyover demolition has now reached day 58, and the progress is becoming impossible to miss. In this update from 55 Degrees North, we take a close look at the latest work on the flyover, where more than 100 metres of the structure has already been cleared and around 7,500 tonnes of concrete and steel have been safely removed from site. There is still plenty of work ahead, with completion expected by October, but the next major phase is now getting underway around the Five Bridges roundabout. Preparation work is well underway, with crews installing large steel supports underneath the flyover ahead of demolition over this key section. The Five Bridges roundabout is expected to close to traffic from 21st June until 16th July, with disruption likely for traffic, public transport, and pedestrians, as the walkways underneath will also be closed.
