This video shows the steady stream of trains arriving and departing at Shin-Osaka Station on the JR Kyoto Line (Tokaido Main Line) and Osaka Higashi Line (weekday evening rush hour, 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM). Shots were taken from platforms 1 through 10 on conventional lines, and show the JR Kyoto Line's Special Rapid Service, rapid and local trains, the Osaka Higashi Line's local trains (221 series), and the limited express trains Kuroshio, Haruka, Thunderbird, Kounotori, Rakuraku Biwako, Rakuraku Harima, and Hida. The Kuroshio also features the "Utopia Smile Train," a new "Panda Kuroshio" train scheduled to begin running in November 2025. With the opening of the Hokuriku Shinkansen in March 2024, Thunderbird trains will be bound for Tsuruga. The "Rakuraku Harima" previously ran between Shin-Osaka and Himeji, but its route has been extended to Kyoto and Aboshi, the "Biwako Express" has been renamed "Rakuraku Biwako," and the Maibara-bound service now runs earlier. The video shows a Maibara-bound train. "Haruka" trains also depart and arrive, including the "Hello Kitty Haruka" and trains without wrapping. Platform 1 is for the Kyoto-bound "Kuroshio" and "Haruka" trains and those on the Osaka Higashi Line heading towards Kyuhoji, platform 2 is for the "Kuroshio" arriving and those heading towards Wakayama, platform 3 is for the "Haruka" heading towards Kansai Airport and those on the Osaka Higashi Line heading towards Osaka, and platform 4 is for limited express trains such as the "Thunderbird" heading towards Kyoto. On the Kyoto Line, platforms 5 and 6 are for Kyoto-bound trains, platforms 7 and 8 are for Osaka-bound special rapid, rapid, and local trains, and platforms 9 and 10 are for Osaka-bound limited express trains.
