100 Jahre Lufthansa – Jubiläumsflug in der Allegris Premium Economy

100 Years of Lufthansa – and I was right in the middle of it. On April 6, 2026, exactly 100 years after the first scheduled flights of Deutsche Lufthansa, two anniversary flights took off from Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) on the historic routes of those inaugural flights. A Boeing 787-9 flew to Zurich, and an Airbus A350-900 to Cologne-Bonn. Both aircraft sported a special anniversary livery featuring the white crane and the years 1926 and 2026 on the fuselage. Alex was on board the 787-9 – in the new Allegris Premium Economy Class. Before takeoff, there was a ceremony at the gate: speeches by Lufthansa CEO Jens Ritter, BER Airport CEO Aletta von Massenbach, and the Governing Mayor of Berlin, Kai Wegner, accompanied by live music and historical insights into 100 years of aviation history. Anyone flying on April 6, 1926, was still sitting in the open air – with only a windshield, traveling in Fokker and Dornier aircraft, sometimes with just one passenger on board. In the video, Alex takes you along: to the ceremony, into the aircraft, through the new Allegris cabin, and of course through 100 years of Lufthansa history – including the dark Nazi chapters that CEO Carsten Spohr consciously and openly addressed for the anniversary. There's also a look at the current situation of the company: record revenue, but also strikes, a turnaround program, and geopolitical pressure points due to the Iran-Iraq War.
