Armée Française (MFO) : Le Twin Otter du Sinaï
French Army (MFO): The Sinai Twin Otter By Aldo Sterone On May 6, 2007, a French Air Force Twin Otter (F-RACB) collided with a truck on a road crossing the Sinai Desert. The aircraft was flying as part of a training mission that would take it to the Sainte-Catherine airfield. We revisit this story, which also provides an opportunity to discuss the aerodynamics and mechanics of flight when you're missing a wing. How can an aircraft fly with a broken or partially damaged wing? This accident claimed the lives of nine soldiers who were part of the observation force, the MFO, established after the Camp David Accords between Egypt and Israel. Here are the names of these nine soldiers: Captain Laurence BRIANCON, wife of FOREST Lieutenant Guillaume PIKE Sgt Hervé BOUFFENIE Sgt Yann POILLY Sgt Laurent POTTIER Sgt Julien FLEGO WO Dominique GRAU WO Dominique DURAND Chairman Benoît CHEVALIER (Canadian) BEAD-air accident report: https://aldo-sterone.com/aviation/Twi...
