Authentic SRI LANKAN BUFFET with Incredible Flavours 🍛🔥 | Ella 9 Arch Bridge 🌉 |

Hello Makkalea! ❤️ Today was all about exploring the beautiful hill town of Ella, Sri Lanka! 🇱🇰 My day started with a visit to the world-famous Nine Arch Bridge, one of Sri Lanka’s most iconic landmarks. Built during the British colonial era between 1913 and 1921, the bridge is known as the “Bridge in the Sky” because of its impressive stone arches surrounded by lush green tea plantations. According to local stories, it was constructed almost entirely using stone, brick, and cement with very little steel due to steel shortages during World War I. Watching trains pass through this engineering marvel while enjoying the peaceful mountain scenery was an unforgettable experience. For the first time ever, I tried Sri Lankan tender coconut (King Coconut). It was naturally sweet, incredibly refreshing, and the perfect drink after walking around Ella. Next, I made my way to a beautiful hilltop café overlooking the breathtaking landscapes of Uva Province. Sitting there with a hot cup of authentic Ceylon tea while enjoying panoramic views of rolling tea estates, misty mountains, and a stunning sunset was one of the most relaxing moments of the trip. I also caught up with my friend Dinesh over a call before heading out for dinner. To end the day, I enjoyed an authentic Sri Lankan buffet, and every dish was packed with flavor. The chicken curry was rich, aromatic, and perfectly spiced with traditional Sri Lankan roasted curry spices. The fish curry had a delicious balance of heat, tanginess, and coconut flavors. The jackfruit poriyal (Polos stir-fry) was mildly spiced with grated coconut, offering a unique texture and earthy taste. The potato curry was creamy, comforting, and absorbed all the fragrant spices beautifully, while the brinjal (eggplant) curry was sweet, tangy, and melt-in-your-mouth thanks to its caramelized preparation. Soft idiyappam (string hoppers) paired perfectly with every curry, soaking up all the delicious gravies and making every bite even better. It was one of the most satisfying Sri Lankan meals I’ve had during this trip. After an amazing day exploring Ella, enjoying incredible food, and witnessing a magical sunset, I headed back to my hostel to relax and wrap up another memorable day in Sri Lanka.
