GENERAL OBJECTIVE OF THE POST-GRADUATE COURSE IN NORMATIVE GRAMMAR: To offer a solid and in-depth training in normative grammar of the Portuguese language, enabling the post-graduate student to analyze, teach, and apply grammatical rules in different discursive contexts, with an emphasis on linguistic precision, formal correctness, and language didactics. SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES • To understand the theoretical foundations of normative grammar and its relationships with other grammatical approaches, such as descriptive and internalized grammar. • To study in detail the phonological, morphological, syntactic, and semantic levels of the Portuguese language, based on established normative prescriptions. • To analyze the rules of spelling, accentuation, agreement, government, punctuation, and crasis, applying them confidently to practical issues concerning language use. • Reflect on the role of standard language in society and its educational implications, considering linguistic varieties and the challenges of grammar teaching. • Develop didactic and methodological skills for teaching normative grammar in school contexts and in preparation for public service exams.
