GENERAL OBJECTIVE OF THE POSTGRADUATE COURSE IN NORMATIVE GRAMMAR: To offer a solid and in-depth training in normative grammar of the Portuguese language, enabling the postgraduate student to analyze, teach and apply grammatical rules in different discursive contexts, with an emphasis on linguistic precision, formal correctness and language didactics. SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES • To understand the theoretical foundations of normative grammar and its relationships with other grammatical approaches, such as descriptive and internalized grammar. • To study in detail the phonological, morphological, syntactic, and semantic levels of the Portuguese language, based on established normative prescriptions. • To analyze the rules of spelling, accentuation, agreement, government, punctuation, and crasis, applying them confidently to practical issues concerning language use. • To reflect on the role of standard language in society and its educational implications, considering linguistic varieties and the challenges of grammar teaching. • To develop didactic and methodological skills for teaching normative grammar in school contexts and in preparation for public service exams.
