#NewsUpdate || Senior Journalist Okram Hemankumar Passes Away; Former CM along with Media Faternity Pays Condolence Imphal, June 8: Senior journalist and Sports Sub-Editor of Poknapham daily, Okram Hemankumar, passed away today after a prolonged illness, drawing condolences from the media fraternity and well-wishers across the state. A condolence meeting was held at the Manipur Press Club under the aegis of the All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU) and the Editors' Guild Manipur (EGM) to pay tribute to the departed journalist. Former Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren Singh also attended the programme and expressed his condolences. Hemankumar had earlier worked with Naharolgi Thoudang before joining Poknapham, where he served for many years and made significant contributions to sports journalism in Manipur. According to reports, he suffered a stroke on June 4 and had been undergoing treatment at Shija Hospitals and Research Institute before passing away today. Speaking on the sidelines of the programme, Biren Singh expressed hope that ongoing initiatives by the state and central governments would help restore lasting peace in Manipur.
