Ep. 95: The Egyptian Godhead of Mormonism

Bill Young argues that LDS unfairly claim the Christian Trinity is a late, Hellenistic corruption while ignoring what he calls a demonstrable pagan origin for the LDS Godhead tied to Joseph Smith’s 1835 purchase of Egyptian mummies and papyri from Michael Chandler. He says the LDS Church now acknowledges surviving papyri fragments do not match the Book of Abraham, do not mention Abraham, and are standard Egyptian funerary texts (e.g., Book of Breathings), which he presents as proof Smith was a fraud. He critiques Joseph Smith’s explanations of Facsimiles 1–3 as incorrect, identifying them instead as common Egyptian afterlife scenes involving deities like Osiris, Anubis, Isis, Maat, and Hor, and claims Facsimile 2 depicts the fertility god Min. He contends the Book of Abraham is a key theological turning point introducing “the gods” creating, premortal existence, eternal matter, exaltation, and a non-biblical Godhead, and he ends by previewing a free song, “Read Like an Egyptian.” 00:00 Trinity Rant Setup 01:47 Channel Intro Bonus Tease 02:21 Egyptian Papyri Challenge 04:15 Book of Abraham Backstory 07:52 Translation Claim vs Reality 09:41 Evidence vs Proof Explained 11:54 Facsimile 1 Exposed 16:17 Facsimile 2 Hypocephalus 19:17 Min Fertility God Detail 23:05 Facsimile 3 Book of Dead 24:29 Apologist Escape Theories 28:04 Godhead Theology Shift 30:07 Biblical Monotheism Contrast 31:24 Pagan Influence Reversal 33:31 Trinity vs Mormon Godhead 35:19 Outro and Free Song 36:39 Read Like an Egyptian Song RESOURCES TTM Single: Talk Like An Egyptian: https://truthtomormons.com/wp-content...
