🌱 Today we take you with us into the vegetable garden at Cascina Girasole to show you how we work the soil between manual labor and light mechanization. For many years we cultivated our garden entirely by hand, using broadforks, grelinettes, hoes and rakes. But for about a year and a half now, we have started introducing a few mechanical tools too, always with great attention to soil quality, organic matter and the life within the earth. In this video we show you: 🚜 how we use the tractor and rotary harrow in the garden 🌱 sowing our 2026 broad beans 🌿 preparing plots for broad beans, peas and potatoes 🐄 the role of manure and organic matter in soil fertility 🍂 light mulching after sowing 🪱 our attempt to find a balance between harvest, living soil and sustainable work We do not follow a fixed method and we do not identify with rigid labels. What we do comes from daily observation of this land, this climate and this ecosystem. Every year we try to find a balance between giving and receiving, between production and care, between practicality and respect for the soil. Here on the farm, everything is connected: vegetable garden, livestock, manure, cheese, seasons, manual work and mechanical tools. We try to listen to what this place asks of us, without ideology but with attention, freedom and constant experimentation.
