"Bed of Roses" is a song by American rock band Bon Jovi for their 5th studio album, Keep the Faith (1992), then released as a single on January 11, 1993. “Bed of Roses” is an emotional & power ballad written by Jon Bon Jovi, inspired by his experiences on the road, weariness & loneliness, longing to be with his love ones. The song was created during the recording sessions for the “Keep the Faith” album, which was a critical point in Bon Jovi’s career. The band had been away from the spotlight for a few years, and they were trying to re-invent themselves and their music. “Bed of Roses” was one of the songs that helped them to achieve that goal, pushing the band to a new level of emotional depth and maturity in their music. “Bed of Roses” has become one of Bon Jovi’s most iconic songs and a fan favorite. It has been covered by several notable artists over the years such as Kenny Rogers, Michael Bolton and LeAnn Rimes, in their own version / interpretation. For the drum cover, this is my first Power Slow Rock Ballad. It is considerably quite difficult to play especially when it comes to the fill-ins & breaks. The in-between ‘rest’ bars & notes, the timing has to be very accurate otherwise it will creates an awkward beat to the song. This is an emotional song, sung by Jon Bon Jovi powerful vocal hence the drum has to follow his high & low voice by executing the beats soft & hard on his cue.
