Pre Arrival video of a structure fire above the Bacon Strip Restaurant, Coplay, Pennsylvania

At 3:00PM Tuesday afternoon, Lehigh County 911 Center transmitted the box for Coplay, 18 North 2nd Street, The Bacon Strip for a building fire. Stations 5, 38, 18, 2, 42, 11, 29 and Medic 62 were dispatched. Chief 35 (Bilder) arrived from Whitehall and reported a working fire in a 3-story mixed-use building with a fire in the apartment above the restaurant. He ordered the first in Ladder, Quint 18 to stretch a hand line to side 4 or D. A police officer was on scene and assisted in getting the lines in operation. A second hand line was stretched to back up the first. The steps to the 2nd floor apartment were icy and hindering firefighters and police. An officer fell down the steps due to the ice and was not injured. The fire was darkened down quickly and overhaul took about an hour. The Bacon Strip located on the bottom floor sustained heavy water damage and was ordered closed until repairs can be made. The fire was held to the first alarm assignment with all hands working.
