Surface Texture Measurement - Replication and Gears

To measure surface texture in hard to reach locations we sometimes make a replication of the surface that can be measured instead. 3D surface roughness measurement from a replication can be surprisingly accurate. In this video we look at replicating the surface texture of a gear tooth, then using an optical profiler to measure the replication.
