How to Enjoy the Fountain Pen Hobby Without Spending - Part 1 - Re-arrange
This is the first video in my series where we will explore tips and tricks on how to increase your joy the #fountainpenhobby without spending any money at all! I plan to try out one tip a week thru the end of the year and share the results with you here on the channel. This week the tip is to re-arrange your "stuff" in a new way in order to come in touch with exactly what you have (how much and what it is!) and see it in a new way! I decided to tackle my full bottle ink collection - by making a hand built ink shelf with materials on hand and the help of my husband. We have not yet stained or painted it but it's up and functional and I really love being able to "see" all my inks ... honestly, it looks like I'm opening an ink store or an old fashioned general store. I certainly came out of this activity knowing for sure that I have enough ink and my urge to order more diminished a lot. I hope this series will be of some help or inspiration to some of you! I think this can be a great experiment to try no matter how big or small our budgets or "pen allowances" are I think some mindfulness and exploration of this subject could be helpful! Let me know in the comments! I have been following a You Tuber who talks about her "Beauty Budget" and some of the tips I got from her translate so well to the Fountain Pen Community! Here is a link to her channel - • MY NO-BUY YEAR - Hannah Louise Poston (Ful... Hannah has her budget related videos play-listed. If you watch her videos -- try to imagine she is talking about limited edition ink(s)/sets and special edition pens instead of eye shadow pallets and designer clothes. That really really helped me and I have gained a lot from her experience of going on a "no buy" and then a budget - which reminds me somewhat of my "pen allowance" ... mind being on a lesser dollar scale but still helpful. I continue to look for more tips and explore ideas I have read about, seen in videos and thought of myself. Please let me know in the comments if this videos series interest you -- I think it's a worthwhile conversation to have even though we all have different budgets and different needs within the hobby! From rags to riches ... we all sometimes need to re-evaluate, organize and take a step back from our habits!!! Thank you for watching!
