Mentan Amran Borong Inovasi ITS: Benih Jagung Rp10 Miliar, Traktor Amfibi, Hingga Alat Panjat Kelapa

Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman visited the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) Buncitan Branch in Sidoarjo, East Java, on Wednesday (July 22, 2026) to observe firsthand the nation's agricultural innovations. During the visit, Minister Amran purchased ITS hybrid corn seeds worth IDR 10 billion for planting on 13,000 hectares. He also supported the procurement of amphibious tractors that can be used on dry and swampy land, as well as coconut climbing equipment to improve efficiency and farmer safety. This step follows up on President Prabowo Subianto's directive for the government to prioritize innovations from universities. According to Minister Amran, campus innovations must be immediately implemented in the field to provide real benefits to farmers. The purchased ITS hybrid corn seeds have the potential to yield up to 10 tons per hectare and will be distributed free of charge to farmers. By increasing productivity, national corn production can be boosted without the need to clear new land.
