La ligne Maginot : ce qu'on ne vous a pas dit

After the atrocities of the First World War, France embarked on a huge project: Over 12 years, it built one of the greatest defense and fortification lines of all time, stretching over 1,700 km from the North Sea to Corsica: the famous Maginot Line. According to what we usually hear, it served no purpose, since it was bypassed and never saw combat. It is said to be the image of the 1940 defeat. 🔎 But what is its real story? Is it really all we are usually told through programs and reports? Its destiny is unique: a source of national pride in the 1930s, declared impassable, then mistreated, abandoned, and blamed for the 1940 defeat. Ruined, then rebuilt, renovated, rehabilitated, only to end up abandoned again. Looted again, then ransacked, it was nevertheless reborn thanks to the efforts of a handful of men, whose work continues today. ⚔️ Conceived almost 100 years ago, it has been a part of French history throughout the 20th century. Through this video, we invite you to relive the complete story of the Maginot Line, from its conception to the present day. ⚠️ We don't claim to be experts or to know every detail about the history of the Maginot Line, but we are trying to help you discover the true story of this defensive line, which is in reality completely forgotten by the French, except for enthusiasts. Furthermore, the history of the Maginot Line as relayed by the media and reports on the Second World War is 80% of the time erroneous and misleading, hence the title of our video. ⚙️ The production of this video took over two months, including historical research, writing, visits to libraries, contacts, filming, voice recording, editing, and more. It was made with the resources at hand and basic editing skills. 👉 Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments! 💝 If you'd like to support us, a simple comment and a share of the video are our greatest reward. ************************************************************** [00:00] Introduction [2:29] The Reasons for the Maginot Line [3:42] The Design and Organization of the Line [9:00] The Construction of the Wall of France [13:30] The Phoney War [15:55] The Battles of 1940 [24:48] The Occupation and Battles of 1944-45 [27:37] The Cold War [31:46] The Abandonment of the Line [36:22] The Revival of a Forgotten Heritage ************************************************************** ✒️ A project combining History and Exploration, "Les Historiateurs" was born in December 2018 from the passion of four people for history, Exploration, culture, and heritage. 🔍 Our goal is to help you discover forgotten stories, testimonies of the past, abandoned places, and vestiges of time. 📜 This project also aims to keep memory alive and pay tribute to the little-known people who lost their lives during conflicts, or who, in their own way, left their mark on their time. 📸 Through these images and videos, you will meet men and stories that had been forgotten. 🏰 To enhance your immersion, we will go directly to the very places where the stories we tell you took place. ⏳ We literally offer you a journey through the centuries in the footsteps of the past. ***************************************************************** 🔔 If you like the concept, don't hesitate to subscribe! 🔄 Our project is still in its early stages...
