Triumph Roadster Restoration Part 9: How to Service a Solex and De-Rust a Petrol Tank
Part nine of the series documenting the restoration of my 1947 Triumph Roadster (TRD655). In part eight, the promise of new oil was fulfilled, both in the gearbox and the rear axle. The diff cover put up something of a fight coming off but was eventually thwarted. We also took a peek inside the engine using an inspection camera before finally removing the sump and giving it a good wash out in preparation for the engines new oil and first start. In this episode, we continue on from where we left off after removing the carburettor, first cleaning it, inspecting it and transferring seventy years of grime onto my hands. Then, the tank too is inspected on the inside and on the out and the aforementioned areas are likewise cleaned and de rusted with the assistance of various magical and highly professional tools. Join me to find out how all this goes! Watch part one here: • Triumph Roadster Restoration Part 1: Takin... See the whole series as it unfolds: • Triumph Roadster
