The HOTPOINT TRAGEDY: How a Legendary Brand Betrayed the World!

We explore the golden era of British engineering from the legendary Twin Tubs and 18 series front loaders to the rock solid Aquarius range. Name and shame the brand! The Golden Era of British Engineering ✅ The Legendary Twin Tub: A masterpiece of efficiency. It featured a central agitator for an incredible clean and a spin drum that rotated at a blistering 2000 to 3000 RPM (faster than most modern machines!). ✅ Automatic Top Loaders (15690, 15790 & 96200): These combined the brutal wash action of the Twin Tub with an automatic cycle. Best of all? When the gearbox wore out, Hotpoint supplied proper service kits so we could rebuild them instead of forcing you to scrap the whole machine. ✅ The Liberator & 18 Series Front Loaders: Built like a bank vault. You could unbolt the back plate with 12 bolts to get right inside the drum and the motor sat on top making carbon brush changes a breeze. ✅ The Aquarius (95 Series): One of the first to use a plastic outer drum but it was held together with heavy steel clips! If a machine got noisy, we could unclip the drum, tap out the old bearings, press new ones in and get it running flawlessly for another 15 years for about £45 in parts. ✅ The Kitchen Classics: Hotpoint’s quality went beyond laundry. The Iced Diamond Fridge Freezers had compressors that practically never lost gas, Reversomatic Tumble Dryers used thick metal casings that took decades of abuse and First Edition Dishwashers featured thick stainless steel spray arms that pulverized food without snapping.
