50 Years New in Asia: The Making of a Joan Miró
As evidenced by the signature and dedication on the back of the untitled canvas, this footage was filmed by Thomas Bouchard in New York on 12 October 1947 for the 1955 film About Joan Miró and gives contemporary viewers a rare, intimate look at the artist’s process, one that brings the painter to life as he in turn gives life to a work of art. Sans titre was hidden from the public for 50 years before it was offered at Sotheby’s in New York in 2014. Now the painting proudly makes its second auction appearance, offered in Sotheby’s Hong Kong 50th Anniversary Modern Evening Auction on 5 April 2023.
