A couple of years after moving in, we still had not visited the attic. Finally, we got a ladder and climbed up to discover the floorboards were not even nailed down! They were loose and simply laying over an old framework of cross beams. We also found an ancient handwritten bill for bottles of wine. I pictured the workmen sitting up in the attic, getting drunk and saying, "To hell with it, we're not nailing down the floor. Who will ever know?" My next thought was, I'm going to film this and finally do something with this MAGAZINE concert I've had sitting on the shelf since 1980. Howard DeVoto's lyrics are so unique and evocative.
