On a spectacular old royal route of Madeira through the cliffs near Arco de São Jorge. We tested the Rother hike (No. 26). Madeira has many well-preserved old cobblestone paths, even in difficult terrain. The one from Arco de São Jorge leads high above the wild Atlantic waves through the wall of a steep coastal mountain.
