2.6.26 La municipalidad de Resistencia conmemoró el 80ª aniversario de la República de Italia

The Municipality organized the official ceremony to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Republic of Italy, which began with the raising of the Argentine and Italian flags on the flagpoles located along 9 de Julio Avenue. A floral offering was also made at the Monument to the Roman Wolf, accompanied by the Municipal Band. Members of the municipal cabinet and the Provincial Government, representatives of public institutions, teachers, and students from the Sarmiento Normal School and the Amici Bilingual Educational Institute (U.E.G.P. No. 41) participated in the commemoration. Agata Balboni, a Rotary exchange student from Bologna, participated in the celebration and stated: “I’ve never seen an event like this in Italy; I think they are very patriotic here.” Similarly, Susanna Maria Illomei, from Sardinia, remarked: “I loved the event; we don’t have anything like this in our country, it’s completely different.” For his part, Aldo Cracogna, Honorary Vice-Consul of Italy in Chaco, recalled that the Italian Republic was born from a referendum held on June 2, 1946, in which the choice was between the continuation of the monarchy or a change to a republic, the latter being the winning option. “This is the most widely celebrated Italian civic holiday, because we don't have an Independence Day, so coming together to celebrate is very important because it creates identity and cohesion,” he affirmed. He also thanked the Municipality, “which is always unwavering in its support of Italian culture. Today, they are organizing the event, with the presence of the Band and authorities; there is a real Italian fervor in Resistencia.” Meanwhile, the Secretary of Government indicated that there is a strong commitment from the institutions involved in this celebration, which serves as an opportunity to honor the city's first inhabitants.
