We continue our discussion of Everett's science fiction ideas, particularly those that were subsequently developed in theoretical research by physicists. Today, Yuri A. Lebedev and I are discussing my science fiction story "Mistakes and Only Mistakes," published in the newspaper "Troitsky Variant – Science." During a reception at the City Hall of Boulder, the capital of the state of Colorado (USA), two famous figures meet: science fiction writer Robert Heinlein and physicist George Gamow. A conversation ensues, during which Heinlein outlines his thoughts on the numerous mistakes humanity has made during its evolution. Everyone makes mistakes, including science fiction writers and scientists. Science advances by overcoming its own mistakes. Is it possible to arrive at correct solutions by studying only erroneous solutions? How do the erroneous ideas of science fiction writers differ from the erroneous ideas of scientists?
