We continue our discussion of Everett's science fiction ideas, and in particular, ideas that were subsequently developed in the theoretical research of physicists. Today, Yuri A. Lebedev and I are discussing my science fiction story "Distribution and Only Distribution," published in the newspaper "Troitsky Variant – Science." Physicists Hugh Everett and Bryce DeWitt are meeting at American University in Washington. Their conversation turns to quantum physics, and Everett tells DeWitt about his many-worlds ideas, which he didn't include in his doctoral dissertation. What is the difference between an individual and a multispecies? What's the difference between the virtually infinite number of selves in different branches of the many-worlds universe? Is there a distribution function for the properties of these different selves? Can this function be described similarly to the motion of gas molecules in a vessel? Can the actions of a multi-species universe influence the distribution function? Does the behavior of a selves in one branch depend on the behavior of selves in other branches?
