How to Register For and Schedule an ICC Special Inspection Exam

On December 1, 2017, ICC implemented some big changes to their special inspection exams. These changes include how to sign up for the tests. In this video, I show you how I scheduled my test through ICC's website. I registered for the 92 Prestressed Concrete Plans Exam. The test was 90 minutes and the plans are now fully on the computer screen. In other words, you will be using digital plans instead of physical plans. ICC and Pearson Vue have completely changed how the plans portion of the test is administered. ICC is likely using digital plans to save on the costs for plans replacements at the nationwide testing centers since physical plans are handled often and damaged, or just get old and fade. Matt, my fellow teacher at SI Certs, and I took the new exams with digital plans. We passed on the first try and we learned a lot from our experience. The plans exam is now separate from the code exam and you only get 90 minutes to complete it.
