If I Am Dreaming, Don't Ever Wake Me Up.....Experience my First Romería in Spain with Me.
Hi I'm Mel Moss and Welcome to We Dreamed of Spain. I along with my husband Dave, our three children and our Mini Lassie Merry moved to Spain two years ago to chase a dream I've had my entire life which is to live in Spain. Over the past two years we have lived in several towns and cities, rented an apartment here in Malaga, made friends, bought a car and built a life that we love. There have been extreme highs and deep deep lows and we wouldn't change any of it. I am Spanish deep into my soul. Its not enough for me to live it, I feel a strong desire to share the real Spain with the world. This week, let's experience our very first Romería together; a centuries old tradition that brings together faith, family, community, music, food, horses, and celebration. What began as a religious pilgrimage has evolved into one of Andalucía's most cherished cultural events, and today we're joining local families as they make their way in procession to a day of festivities, music, dancing, and shared meals. Along the way, we'll discover the history behind the tradition, admire the beautiful costumes and decorated carriages, enjoy a giant community paella, and experience a side of Spain that many visitors never get to see. Moments like these are a reminder that a rich and fulfilling life isn't about rushing from one attraction to the next. It's found in community, tradition, and the simple joy of coming together to celebrate.
