There are many myths that attempt to explain the differences in genitalia between men and women. Despite being false, they have been used to define "what one should be, think, and do" if one is a boy or a girl, thus constructing gender stereotypes. In contrast, the real differences between men and women in how they become ill or in the effects of medications remain as invisible as the clitoris. Medicine needs to be reconceptualized from a gender perspective. [The following appears to be a separate, unrelated section:] Clinical Pharmacologist, Professor at Miguel Hernández University, and graduate in Anthropology (UNED). Her clinical work is based in the Pain Unit, where she is an expert in pharmacogenetics and care for vulnerable populations. She is also a science communicator with numerous activities in social forums and is part of several theater companies. As a result of her work, she has received several awards and published nearly 50 articles in indexed national and international journals.
