MAKE video series features Atlanta printmaker and artist Tina Dunkley
Spend a moment in the Atlanta Printmakers Studio with Tina Dunkley, as she explains how she incorporates her genealogy into her artwork. KPKinteractive has a long history with craft and its makers. We love making videos about craft artisans who inspire us, such as Tina Dunkley. Although often typecast as a textile artist, she also has formal training in painting, sculpture and mixed media. Dunkley is presently creating an art series called Sanctuary for the Internal Enemy, which tells the story of her ancestors, who were among the four to five thousand African Americans who earned their freedom by joining the British Royal Navy during the War of 1812. Although she’s worked with many different mediums throughout her career, Dunkley’s current focus is screen printing. Watch how she skillfully uses the screen printing technique to create multiple works of art. Atlanta Printmakers Studio is a non-profit community printmaking studio. They offer artists access to specialized equipment and diverse educational programs that foster the development of printmaking as a vibrant and progressive art form. For more information on the Atlanta Printmakers Studio, visit: http://www.atlantaprintmakersstudio.org/ And visit us anytime at www.kpkinteractive.com. Thanks for watching!
