Scourie Caravan & Camping - site tour/review | NC500 | AMAZING BAYFRONT PITCH & VIEWS | April 2023
In today's video, we look at Scourie Caravan and Camping Park, where we stayed in April 2023 in our Roller Team Auto Roller 707 with our two rescue chihuahuas. It's on the popular NC500 route in Scourie, which has some restaurants, hotels and shops. There's a cafe at the entrance to the site which has now closed and is being turned into a convenience store. We received a warm welcome at the site. Some reviews complain about a lot of rules, and there is a list of rules but to us they seemed like common sense and respectful camping. And they weren't drummed into us on arrival or anything, so we didn't feel restricted. They ask you to walk your dog offsite, but that's true of many campsites we stay at, and there was walking available straight outside the site, with a couple of beaches to try out if preferred. The site has the facilities you would expect - toilets, showers, water, grey and black waste disposal, bins and dishwashing facilities. There's also a campers' kitchen and an automated laundrette like you find at some supermarkets. Its big draw is the location, right on the bay, and our pitch was literally on the edge of the water, with lovely views. The facilities block was a little cold as doors and windows are still being left open as an anti-Covid measure. The shower temperature varied a bit but nothing too problematic. For me, the shower cubicle felt a bit tight to get dressed in, but there is a communal changing area outside the shower cubicles if you're not prudish like me! The facilities were kept really clean and these are only minor negative points - certainly nothing that would stop us going back - we'd happily stay there again if we were in the area. Do be prepared for midges. We purposely travelled in April to try to avoid midge season, but on our night in Scourie, they started to come out as it was a very still evening and relatively warm compared to the rest of the trip. I can imagine they'd be quite bad in the right season (like the west coast in general). https://www.scouriecampsitesutherland... Music: https://www.epidemicsound.com/track/F... Filmed in April 2023.
