1990s Coin Operated Steam Engine Kiddie Ride - Santa Fe Sam

Filmed at Cooper's Amusements in Morecambe on June 24th 2016. Released in the early 1990s, Santa Fe Sam was manufactured by Whittaker Brothers. This cheerful (if a little strange) Mexican-style steam engine was blue and yellow and wore a large yellow sombrero. The two front windows were designed to look like eyes with a large red nose and mouth (hidden beneath a stereotypical Mexican moustache!) on the front. Strangest of all perhaps were the two human arms positioned in front of the cab! This was a very popular ride in the 1990s, and at least one could be seen at most seaside resorts for many years. I am currently working on a website about coin operated rides, particularly those made (or at least commonly distributed) in the UK during the 1950s-90s. Please visit http://www.coinoperatedrides.weebly.com! If anybody has old photos/video footage that they wouldn't mind sharing with me, please e-mail me at [email protected] or leave a comment below. I would be eternally grateful. Thank you! :)
