Off Grid Accessible Tiny House On The Shores Of Bruny Island, Tasmania - The Hide At Sheepwash Bay
Today we are on an island, off an island, off an Island. "The Hide" a luxury and fully accessible coastal tiny house retreat, is located at Sheepwash Bay, Bruny Island - an island off the south east coast of the island state of Tasmania. The Hide is all about wide open spaces, privacy, experiencing the wild coastal elements of Bruny Island, but within the comfort of a cosy and intimate and coastal pod. The journey south to The Hide from Hobart takes about an hour and a half. At the township of Kettering you take a fast ferry across the D'Entrecasteaux Channel to Bruny Island, and from there it's a stunning 30 minute drive heading south to Sheepwash Bay. A mandatory pit stop at Get Shucked will see you enjoying oysters harvested from the cool island waters that morning, you may ven see them working the farm from the restaurant. The Bruny Island Beer and Cheese Co is also en route to the The Hide, and their cheeses will make the perfect pairing with some local bread from the Bruny Island Baker, whos self serve fridges sit at the side of SHeepwash Bay Road, the last turn off before you arrive at The Hide. The Hide is made of of four zones: The main living pavilion, the bathroom pavilion, the deck and the sunken fire pit area. Interiors are warm featuring pressed tin walls, tasmanian timber flooring, extensive glazing and my favourite feature was the shear curtains that around the front of the tiny house. The sheers blowing in the gentle breeze was mesmerising, and a reminder of the raw coastal setting the tiny home occupies. The main living pod features a queen size bed with high quality linen, romantic claw foot bath, built in lounge adorned with sumptuous coastal themed cushions, and a small kitchen with homemade treats and great coffee. Outside is the bathroom pavilion with toilet and on the expansive deck, tucked in behind the sun lounges sits an indulgent outdoor shower, and a barbeque and fire pit complete the experience.
