1992: 🏈 Refugio vs Sinton September 4, 1992: Refugio 28, Sinton 7 Bobcats Stifle Sinton in Harris’ Debut Victoria Advocate September 5, 1992 The Refugio Bobcats pulled a stunning upset Friday by soundly defeating the Sinton Pirates, 28-7 in George Harris’ first game as head coach. The favored Pirates were held to 137 yards rushing and 12 first downs. Refugio drove for 21 first downs and 370 yards rushing despite three lost fumbles. The Bobcats grabbed the lead from the opening kickoff by executing a 65-yard drive in nine plays. Bobcat halfback Dana Robinson ran the ball from the 7 with 7:24 remaining in the first quarter. The extra point by Ragan Dunham was good. Refugio lengthened its lead in the second period with a 29-yard run by Robinson. Robinson, who ran for 102 yards, sped 90 yards on the second-half kickoff and upped the Bobcat score to 20 with 11:47 remaining in the third period. Dunham nailed the extra point. Sinton got it’s only touchdown in the third period following a 12-yard run by Ross Partlow. A 53-yard pass by Rubin Trigio to Rance Frommy. The Bobcat’s Kevin Marchak, who carried the ball 17 times for 140 yards, finished off the scoring with a 7-yard run with 18 seconds left in the game. Dunham’s kick was good.
