According to Fox 4 News, 19-year-old Lucas Roper, and a juvenile suspect have been arrested and charged with tampering evidence regarding the death investigation of 18-year-old Daniel Erving in Dallas, TX. Daniel went to Lake Hubbard with two white teenagers to go fishing and swimming on April 13, 2026. However, his body his found FOUR days later, and the medical examiner ruled his death as an “accidental drowning.” Nearly three months later on July 9th, Dallas police arrested the two teenagers on a charge of tampering with physical evidence. According to the arrest affidavit, both teenagers discarded Daniel’s clothing and cellphone, and one of them admitted to deleting his messages with Daniel. Attorney Benjamin Crump has now joined the family’s legal team along with Attorney Sean Daredia to demand murder charges to seek justice. They will call on the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office to present evidence in Daniel’s death to a grand jury and to pursue all charges the facts support.
