Opening Day Bonanza Delivers BIG! (Palomino, Browns & Rainbows)

Opening day of trout season in Pennsylvania 2026 absolutely paid off —chaos, redemption, and one unforgettable catch. Although things started off brutally, and I lost 6 flies in just a few minutes. However, things eventually turned around, and the action didn’t stop. I got into fish almost all day, catching stocked rainbow trout, wild brown trout, and even landed a massive palomino trout (golden rainbow trout), the one fish that drew me to face the opening day crowds — my first in nearly five years! After some early success, I spent the rest of the day exploring some classic Pennsylvania wild trout water in search of a trophy wild brown trout. While I didn’t find that fish, the variety, action, and overall experience made this one of my best trout fishing days of 2026.
