Krumbach (Sauldorf) (D - BW) Die Glocken der Pfarrkirche St. Johann Baptist
This video presents the bells h1 -c#2 -e2 [si3 -do#4 -mi3] of St. Johann Baptist church in Krumbach, southern Germany. It is a small, but historically extraordinarily important set of bells. It is an ensemble from the 15th and 18th centuries. ➥ The oldest bell in Krumbach is also the largest bell [1] in the peal. It was cast in 1483 by the Reutlingen bell founder Hans Eger in an extraordinarily heavy shape. It is older than the current church building. In the 18th century, further instruments were added to this bell, presumably as part of further remodelling work on the church. Firstly, the bell cast by Tobias Schalch in Schaffhausen in 1706 [2] came to Krumbach. Finally, in 1797, the smallest bell [3] was cast by Johann Leonhard Rosenlächer and son in Constance. Despite these different casting years, the sound is surprisingly homogeneous. The clear motif certainly helps here. The historical sound of the ensemble creates a rich aural impression. The late Gothic belfry of St Johann Baptist is just as significant as the bells. It is still largely in its original condition and was renovated some time ago.
