Creating a whimsical picnic tablecloth with easy applique - start to finish

Welcome back to the sewing room! 💛 After taking a short break due to a family situation, it feels wonderful to be creating again. In this video I'm making a whimsical picnic tablecloth inspired by a beautiful vintage sewing book I've treasured for many years. Rather than copying the original design, I'm using it as inspiration and creating my own version using fabrics, lace, felt and trims from my stash. This is a relaxed sewing vlog rather than a step-by-step tutorial, but if you're looking for sewing inspiration, quilting ideas, appliqué techniques or creative ways to use up fabric scraps, I hope you'll enjoy sewing along with me. The tablecloth features cheerful fruit appliqué, delicate fan motifs, hand stitching and plenty of improvisation as the design evolves. It's the perfect slow stitching project for summer, and one I hope to keep adding to throughout the season. If you'd like to make something similar, I've listed the book that inspired the project along with the fabrics and materials I used below. Materials & Inspiration • Vintage sewing book: (details below) • Cotton fabrics from my fabric stash • Felt and other fabric scraps • Lightweight fusible fleece • Cotton lace scraps • Pom pom trim • Sewing thread • Hand sewing needles The book: Decorative Home Sewing - French Style - Published by Conran Octopus Ltd ISBN 1 85029 102 0 If you enjoy cosy sewing videos, quilting inspiration, appliqué projects, scrap-busting ideas and creative textile projects, I'd love for you to subscribe and join me for future videos. Thank you so much for being here, and welcome back to the sewing room. ❤️ #sewing #quilting #applique #tablecloth #slowstitching #Sewing #Quilting #Applique #SlowStitching #SewWithMe #SewingVlog #QuiltingInspiration #SummerSewing #PicnicTablecloth #FabricScraps #ScrapBusting #HandApplique #CreativeSewing #TextileArt #Cottagecore #DIYSewing #VintageInspired #SewingCommunity #HandmadeHome #Crafting
