A BIBLIOTECA DE ALEXANDRIA | 2ª Temp | Ep.6

Alexandria is the second largest city in Egypt, with the country's largest port, which is responsible for 80% of the city's imports and exports. The city was founded by Alexander the Great, who wanted to build a new capital in Egypt, and so it was named after its founder, Alexander the Great. Unfortunately, Alexander never saw it finished, as he died at the age of 30 in Babylon. Here we find the Lighthouse of Alexandria (one of the seven wonders of the ancient world), the Library of Alexandria (the largest in the ancient world) and the catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa (one of the seven wonders of the medieval world). But don't think that's all! Tradition has it that it was here that the Hebrew Bible was translated into Koine Greek, revealing the famous Septuagint to the world. There are many stories and legends about the disappearance of the Library of Alexandria. Some say that Marcus Aurelius ordered the burning of the Library of Alexandria because of Cleopatra, while others believe that it is submerged in the sea. Others say it was because of a civil war between Pompey and Julius Caesar, but the fact is that no one knows for sure when or who. Learn a little more about its history by visiting the new Library of Alexandria and the city's Castle. alexandrialibrary #egypt #loucoporviagens ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- • Subscribe to the channel and activate notifications! • Business email: [email protected] Follow me on social media: Instagram:   / loucoporviagens   Facebook:   / loucoporviagens   Twitter:   / loucopviagens   Want to travel with me?
