[Blake Osmus / PhD in Psychology: Measurements showed that levels of depression, stress, and anxiety dropped immediately.] Recently in Canada, the number of young people returning to flip phones like Jarrett is increasing. There is also a growing trend of parents coming to buy flip phones for their children. [Jerry Ede / Flip Phone Seller: When asked why they buy flip phones for their children, they answer, 'I don't like my kids using social media.'] Recently, an increasing number of countries worldwide are attempting to legally restrict the use of social media by teenagers. Last December, Australia became the first country in the world to completely ban social media use for youths under the age of 16, and following suit, Spain, France, Denmark, and others are also pushing for similar legislation. The EU is reviewing measures to regulate social media use by children and adolescents under the age of 13 at the European Union level.
