Two on 17 / Unedited

An unedited four-minute clip from the 17th hole. The camera was placed on the green, looking back toward the tee from around 150 yards away, with the flag and hole held in between. The full sequence is left intact: walking from the 16th green to the tee, playing the shot from far away, the sound of impact, the ball landing and rolling to around 20 feet, the walk up to the green, and the birdie putt. No music. No cuts. Just the shot, the walk, the wait, and the putt. This was the first time I had set the camera up this way, and it changed the feeling of the hole. The recording became a more noticeable observer. It interrupted the normal flow of the round a little more, but also sharpened it. Knowing the shot was being watched made the tee shot feel more deliberate, and the putt feel more pressurised. That seems to be part of the project too: the camera as witness, interruption, evidence, and practice. A two on the 17th, in full. Conditions are imperfect. Adjustments are allowed. Play continues anyway.
