S4:E2 - You Never Know (The Search For The Red Rocket)

Well surprises can always happen when fishing, that’s the fun of getting out. This video is a shorty, full of surprises. Alfred saw a huge brown last time out, it was not only big but beautiful, and he called it the red rocket. So that was our objective today, get the red rocket on a video. That was our agenda, no one else’s! We went early morning back to the stream and fished hard without seeing a brown. The water looked high but again, I didn’t think there’d been a large downpour. Whatever, no fish so off to another stream, minutes away. What a great area in which to fish. We caught a few fish, saw a big brown but unfortunately a smaller rainbow came in for the bait. I was hoping the brown would return but nope, gone. We ended up at a large pool that in the past has held some large fish. If you cast into the middle and get a bite, it’s usually a brown since chub don’t venture out that far for fear of becoming someone’s meal. So Alfred got the 1st fish from the hole and the surprise was….a large sucker. I’ve fished here for 45 years and that’s the 1st 1! Next up I get a really great tug and some line movement. Another sucker and a bit bigger. Not what we expected. A 3rd strike happened, 3 suckers? This fish had a white lining in its mouth so I figure at last a brown. Another surprise, an 18” rainbow. So you know, it was a great day, we left before it became too humid. The red rocket will be for another day and maybe, just maybe, a big brown will grace us with its presence and a video! Thank you Alfred for looking at the segments and putting them into a video. Glad you were able to come along as I know you’re busy. Thanks viewers for taking a look. Cheers Brown trout guy and Alfred
